A Trusted Friend to care for your loved one...

  • The Respite Care program is a grant funded program from the Ocean County Office of Senior Services. The funds are designed to offer support and relief services to caregivers of those with Dementia or Alzheimer’s.

  • The objective of the program is to assist caregivers to improve and prolong their caregiving abilities. Eligibility for the program is determined through an intake process by our staff.

  • Trained volunteers visit with care receivers (those with Dementia or Alzheimer's diagnosis) so that their caregivers may have time to go out of the house, rest or run errands.

    • Care receivers will be evaluated by the Respite Care Coordinator to determine the level of care the volunteers can provide.  Care receivers must be fully ambulatory in order for a volunteer to be left alone with them.  If they are wheelchair or bed bound, the care giver must remain home while the volunteer is present.   This ensures, in the event of an emergency, care receiver will be able to be safely and securely attended to.

  • Volunteers will arrange the best dates and times directly with the caregiver, typically once per week for 2-3 hours.

  • Additional services that may be available:

    • Counseling services and support groups to support, educate, and empower caregivers.

    • Training for caregivers to learn techniques to safely assist a care receiver.
